LASER HAIR REMOVAL

Young woman with smooth legsOur technicians eliminate unwanted hair on the face and body with laser treatments. We can treat any area of your face or body, a wide range of skin tones, fine to coarse hair types and we treat both men and women. The most common areas for treatment for women are the upper lip, chin, bikini area, arms, legs, and underarms.

What to Expect

The laser emits short pulses of intense light to eliminate the hair follicle. The technician can adjust the intensity of the laser treatment during the procedure to suit your comfort. The treated hairs shed over two to three weeks, and the body naturally reabsorbs any ingrown hairs. The laser can be used on all skin types, but like most lasers, they are most efficient on light skin and dark hair follicles. To minimize the number of treatments needed, avoid a fresh suntan and self-tanners before treatment, stop waxing and plucking six weeks before your appointment and shave the day of treatment. Very mild redness or swelling may occur but usually disappears within an hour. Most patients require three to six treatments scheduled four to six weeks apart to attain the desired effect.

Frequently asked questions

Q: Do I need to do anything to prepare for my appointment?

A: A close shave is required for all laser treatments. It is best to shave the night before your treatment, so the skin has time to recover from irritation caused by the razor. It is also important that you avoid tweezing and waxing for at least three weeks before your appointment. These hair removal methods remove the hair, which will make the laser treatments less effective.

Q: What should I avoid before a treatment?

A: In order to be treated with a laser you will need to avoid sun exposure and self-tanners for several weeks before your treatment. It is important that you are not tan and don’t plan on becoming tan throughout your treatments. You will also need to avoid antibiotics for 2 weeks before your treatment. Some antibiotics can cause you to become photosensitive which can therefore cause complications with your laser treatments.

Q: Is Laser Hair Removal safe for all skin types?

A: Yes! Laser Hair Removal is safe and effective for all skin types. The Cutera CoolGlide Yag is able to treat our clients with darker skin in as little as 4-6 treatments.

Q: Is laser hair removal right for me?

A: Laser Hair Removal is a great treatment option for clients with dark, course hair. However, even clients with fine hair will receive great results. The most important factor in determining candidacy is whether there is enough pigment in the hair being treated. For example, someone with blond, red or gray hair may not be an ideal candidate. If you aren’t sure if you are a good candidate for laser hair removal, please contact us to schedule your complimentary consultation.

Q: What should I expect to happen during and after my treatment?

A: Our state-of-the-art lasers provide quick and effective treatments. It only takes 15 minutes to treat your bikini and underarms and only 20 minutes to treat your full legs! It feels like a slight rubber band snap on the skin but any discomfort you feel will not linger. You may be slightly red or have minor welting to the areas being treated. This will usually subside within 24 hours. Your technician may recommend that you apply aloe to the areas. With each treatment you will notice that the hair will begin to grow back much slower and the hair will be much finer. Eventually the hair will no longer continue to grow!

Q: How much does laser hair removal cost?

A: The cost of the treatment depends on the size of the treatment area. Most clients are shocked to discover just how affordable permanent hair removal can be. We give discounts when clients purchase a series of 6 treatments. Contact Us for current specials.
